Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an instrument?
Yes. Students should have access to a keyboard instrument throughout the course. Because the keyboard presents musical relationships in a clear and consistent way, it is one of the most effective tools for learning music theory and ear training. An acoustic piano or an electronic keyboard with at least 49 keys is sufficient for this course.
Is this a live class?
Yes. Weekly meetings using zoom or GoogleMeet allow for group discussion, live questions, and interactive participation.
What styles of music does the course cover?
The concepts apply to most all styles of music, but the content is primarily based on traditional pedagogy of western classical and traditional music forms and theory.
